DailyFinance ("we", "our", or "the app") is a personal finance tracking app for Android. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We are committed to protecting your privacy — your financial data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to back it up to Google Drive.
1. Data We Collect
We collect only the minimum data required for the app to function:
- Account information — your email address and display name, obtained via Firebase Authentication or Google Sign-In, used solely to identify your app session.
- Financial data you enter — transactions, budgets, savings goals, debts, EMIs, bills, and credit cards. This data is stored exclusively on your device in a local SQLite database.
- App preferences — theme, currency, language, and notification settings, stored locally on your device.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect bank account numbers, card numbers, or any payment credentials.
- We do not track your location.
- We do not serve ads or share data with advertisers.
- We do not sell your data to any third party.
3. Google Drive Backup (Optional)
The app offers an optional Google Drive backup feature. If you choose to enable it:
- You will be asked to sign in with your Google account and grant access to your Google Drive.
- A backup file containing your local database is uploaded to a private folder in your own Google Drive — only you can access it.
- We only request the
drive.filescope, which limits access to files created by this app. - You can revoke access at any time via Google Account Permissions.
4. Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Firebase Authentication (Google LLC) — for user sign-in.
- Google Sign-In & Google Drive API (Google LLC) — for optional cloud backup.
5. Data Storage & Security
- All financial data is stored locally on your device using SQLite (WAL mode). It is never transmitted to our servers.
- Sensitive preferences (e.g. app lock PIN) are stored using Android Secure Store (EncryptedSharedPreferences).
- We do not operate any backend server that stores your personal or financial data.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
Since all data resides on your device, you are in full control:
- You can delete all app data at any time via Profile → Reset All Data inside the app.
- Uninstalling the app removes all local data.
- If you used Google Drive backup, you can delete the backup files directly from your Google Drive.
7. Children's Privacy
DailyFinance is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
